May 2014 edited May 2014 in Chevrolet Hi just had to take my 2014 Silverado (with 6630 miles) in for an Engine Misfire ( according to On-Star). The Check Engine came on and is constantly bliking.

The ignition control module can cause a misfire. Hard start, or no start it just depends how the module is failing. It can also cause a misfire or stall after it heats up ie: after you have driven a while and then it misfires or stalls. Just throwing it out there for you guys it is real common on the 5.7 and 4.3 engines good luck.
Dec 26, 2006 · I have a 1999 chevy silverado 4x4 with a 4.3L It misfires some days and runs ok other days. I first started noticing the problem when it started getting cold outside. On warm days, the truck would run just fine. What happens is the truck will run fine until the rpm's get up to around 1800-1900rpm. It then starts to mis really badly.
I picked up a 2001 GMC 1500 last week for either a flip or keep. Truck has a 4.3L V6. Code shows random misfire, runs like [censored] at low rpms..wont hardly idle..runs great at 2500Rpm and above. What I have done- New Distributor and cap. New Spider. New plugs. Swapped coil and wires from another great running 4.3 with no help.

random missfire is a bad knock sensor not sending info to the computer to adjust the timing advance or retarding it. it will random missfire on a hill or under a load it cannot adjust the timing according to the engine needs. $32.99 knock sensor @ o'reilly auto parts part # 98012 will fix it chris.....

Nothing changed the symptoms. Still cyl 4 misfire above about 1500 rpm. I found another post on a forum today with exactly the same symptoms, but they never posted a solution. My friend who is a 30 year chevy mechanic at a chevy dealership doesn't have a clue either. So I am driving it with a flashing SES light.
